Since the world junior championships in Canada, Anneliese Rubie has continued her great form and has already recorded a new personal bst of 12.05 sec in the 100m early domestic season action. Rubie has also run a solid 54.47 sec 400m and recently broke 24 seconds in the 200m, albeit wind assisted. With some great early season form there are positive signs for 2011. Good look to Anneliese as she looks towards the U20 nationals and open nationals in April.

Hey RunnersTribe, just a quick update on my progress so far this season. I’ve been back into hard training over the last few months and started a new gym program at NSWIS, which has seen me do a 100m pb already! I have had a really good, solid block of uninjured and sick-free training so I’m feeling really fit. I did my first 400m in Bankstown last weekend, and it feels great to be back on the track. I ran a decent 54.4 and felt pretty relaxed the whole way around which is a positive sign!
I’ve been doing some tough speed endurance sessions with 800m gun Sianne Tomoe, and this gave me a bit of confidence to try out another dreaded 2 lapper a few weeks ago, turns out it wasn’t too bad and I ran a comfortable 2:12!
I was mulling over whether to do the 600m at Zatopek or not for a while, but as much as I wish I could’ve gone down there for a good race I have been in full sprint mode at the moment, so my coach, John Atterton, and I decided it would be best for me to continue with my program and have a few more weeks of uninterrupted training.
I’m very much looking forward to competing as a New Balance athlete in the new and improved Australian Athletics Tour. It sounds like the Tour will really lift the profile of Athletics in Australia! I will have my first proper hit out at the Hunter Track Classic in January. From there I’ll be racing 200ms and 400ms frequently but focussing on the Sydney Track Classic, U/20 Nationals, and a big peak for Opens Nationals.
Can’t believe this year has gone so quickly but I’m very excited for Christmas and the New Year. Thanks for reading, hope everyone has a relaxing holiday season!
