Alexandra Roberts is a junior Javelin Thrower from Queensland, one of Australia’s best juniors and a World Junior representative. She blogged for Australian Athlete magazine edition 2. Below are some excerpts:

- Javelin Throw 500g 53.01m Australian Junior Championships 2018 – Gold
- Javelin Throw 600g 50.55m Australian Junior Championships 2018 – Silver
Career Highlights:
- Qualifying and competing at Commonwealth Youth Games – Bahamas 2017
- Qualifying and competing at 2018 World Under 20 Championships Tampere, Finland
On her World Juniors experience: “I would have to say that I was disappointed with my performance at the Under 20 Championships. I was hoping to throw a PB and make the final but whilst this didn’t eventuate, I gained so much experience.”
On her plans for the next 12 months: “I am now in my final stages of year 12 and am looking forward to having a gap year to focus on training and work. My gap year will allow me the time to increase my training, build on my strength and conditioning sessions and consistently improve my throwing distance and gym sessions.”
On training:
A Typical Training week
Monday and Saturday PM:
- 400m Jog
- Stretch and trigger
- Arm stretches
- Run throughs (running with the javelin)
- Cross Overs
- Spear Fish
- Walking 3 steps up and back in the infield
- Ball throws – drills & 3/5 steps
- Runway throws – 5 step, 9 step and full approach
- 30m sprints
- Weight plate or medicine ball work
