“We started Box Altitude with a range of comfortable and affordable altitude sleeping tents that we design and manufacture here in Melbourne. From there we created training tents, so customers could do altitude training at home. Now we are fitting out altitude rooms in homes, gyms and offices.” Rico Rogers (Ex-professional cyclist).
“In my opinion the current ROI model for altitude rooms is too high, and I wanted to make altitude rooms accessible to everyone – just like our altitude tents.”
Ex-professional cyclist, Rico Rogers, is busy disrupting the altitude training industry through his company, Box Altitude. Box Altitude have just released new technology which allows athletes to create altitude rooms to train in, for a fraction of the cost, when compared to competitors.
Why have an altitude training room?
“We have been called “a market disrupter” which we are quite happy to be called. I’m confident that a Box Altitude training room can provide a higher return than almost any other piece of training equipment.” Rico continues.
Elite athletes train at high altitudes to give themselves a legal way to gain an edge in their performance. Training at altitude increases the amount of oxygen your body can naturally absorb. The lower oxygen concentration in the altitude room makes your body work harder without increasing your physical workload making workout sessions more time effective – which, in turn, reduces strain on joints and muscles.
Benefits of training at altitude:
- Increases the amount of oxygen the body can naturally absorb
- Improved athletic ability
- Faster recovery time
- Increased overall fitness
- Burn more calories in less time
- Weight loss
- Stimulate production of growth hormone (GH)
- Increase cardiovascular health
How does it work?
The Box Altitude system fills the training environment with filtered hypoxic air (lower concentration of oxygen). By training regularly at altitude 2 to 3 times per week users experience a significant increase in the amount of oxygen they can absorb, resulting in higher performance and function at sea level.
Simple to install and use
Box Altitude systems can be installed within two weeks of purchase. Once installed the system is operated via our smart phone app that interacts with users by logging time spent and performance gains.
Altitude recommendations
We breathe 20.9% oxygen at sea level. Box Altitude recommends starting training at levels of 1500m (17% O2) for beginners and up to 3000m (14% O2) for advanced users. These altitude recommendations are based on scientific studies conducted by the Australian Institute of Sport.
Silent and energy efficient
The background noise generated by the latest generation Box Altitude Hypoxic Compressors is less than that of an air conditioning system. Silence is matched by energy efficiency, as the units utilise smart sensors to fine-tune the delivery of filtered hypoxic air and revert to an energy saving mode once optimum altitudes are reached in the Box Altitude training room.
The science
A number of scientific papers and countless research articles have been published on the benefits of sleeping and training at altitude. Visit boxaltitude.com for more information.
State of the Art App
On top of all this, Box Altitude has introduced a new altitude training app.
The interactive app is multipurpose – both for use by individuals wishing to track their progress and performance gains while training at altitude, and for gyms to be able to moderate their altitude systems easily and efficiently.
Revealed during the recent Australian Sports Technology Week in Melbourne, the Box Altitude App ensures a high-quality workout by fine-tuning the relationship between exercise output to oxygen concentration. This clever use of technology is the first of its kind on the market, giving a scientific edge to altitude training.
The app can also be used with Box Altitude sleep systems, ensuring a high-quality sleep.
The system moderates room altitude depending on what stage of sleep an individual is at. For example, moderate altitudes during deeper sleep and higher altitudes towards waking hours.
Box Altitude uses the latest gas-separation technology, and as a result, has reduced the size and price of altitude installation by around 50%.
Along with their new app, this makes Box Altitude systems the most affordable and technologically advanced product on the market.
Box Altitude Owner and Director, Rico Rogers explains “our main aim is to make altitude training affordable, accurate and smart.
“The app has been a year in the making so I’m really excited to be launching it to the industry. It’s a really innovate development and we’re very proud of it.”
“We have been fortunate to work with and supply some of the best athletes and coaches in the world. It’s gratifying to know that we can now offer these same elite training techniques to everyone – techniques based on years of sport science research and a deep understanding of the practical applications of altitude. Our diverse training regimes ensures everyone can get sustained results from training in our altitude rooms.”
