The captain of the Australian athletics team, Sally Pearson has been forced to withdraw from the Commonwealth Games due to her Achilles injury.

The 31-year-old Olympic gold medalist, who has been battling an Achilles injury, walked her Surfers Paradise leg of the Queen’s Baton relay yesterday.

At this point it looks like Pearson will not run in the relay either.

A press conference called for 1pm today will provide more definitive details.
