Meanwhile, the women’s race witnessed a captivating showdown between Niyomukunzi and Italy’s Nadia Battocletti. Niyomukunzi, who dedicates much of her training time in Italy, displayed remarkable determination throughout the race. Battocletti initially led the pack, closely pursued by Niyomukunzi, until the latter made a decisive move in the closing kilometers, securing a well-deserved victory in 19:42, narrowly edging out Battocletti.
