National women’s long jump champion Kelsey Berryman was out to a 16cm PB long jump of 6.20m (+0.7), to take her into the top 18 New Zealand women’s all time. Berryman who had a previous best of 6.04m from the Cooks Classic in January 2015 also had a 6.19m (+1.5) and 6.04m (+2.0) in her series of six attempts. Athletics New Zealand Long Distance Race Walks Championships, Caroline Bay – 13 November 2016
Erin Talcott won the 50km in an outstanding time of 4:42:15. The American was the first woman to compete in the 50km race walk at the world race walking team championship in Rome in May this year. The 38 year old has a best 50km time of 4:33:22. Miguel Rodriguez was second in Timaru in 4:55:13. Kate Newitt won the women’s 20km in 2:10:59. Laura Langley won the women’s under 20 10km title in 51:01. In the non-championship 10km Jonathon Lord recorded 50:58 and Rosie Robertson 51:24. Alice Ritchie clocked 30:51 in the under 16 non-championship 5km.
