Cameron Myers, the 19-year-old Australian middle distance running prodigy, has opened his indoor track season with a new record at the Washington Indoor Preview meet. Myers’ clocked 3:49.81 to win by 5 seconds, the time was also a facility record.

In a relatively low key meet, Myers was in a league of his own.

The time, interestingly is the fastest ever Mile run in the month of January.
Fellow Australian, Stewart McSweyn, has that honour for the month of December thanks to his effort at the “Penguin Mile” on December 29, 2020, in the small Tasmanian town of Penguin, where he set an Australian all-comers’ record of 3:50.61.
