Double world and Olympic champion David Rudisha has withdrawn from the IAAF World Championships after straining his quad muscle in a training session in Kenya.
Kenya’s current Olympic 800-meter champion and world-record holder (1:40.91), Rudisha said an MRI scan on the right-leg injury showed it would not heal in time for the championships.
The World Champs begin this Friday, with the men’s 800m heats scheduled for the following day.
