Josh Kerr, the current world champion in the 1500m from Britain, is gearing up for his fifth appearance at the renowned Millrose Games, a highlight in the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold event, scheduled for February 11.
Kerr, who also clinched the Olympic bronze, made headlines by clocking an impressive 3:48.87 in the mile event in Boston last year, securing the fourth spot on the world indoor all-time list for this discipline. His return to The Armory in New York next February is highly anticipated as he aims to further showcase his prowess in the two-mile event.
His track record at the Millrose Games is notable. He started this year’s campaign with a stunning victory in the 3000m and later secured the world 1500m title in Budapest. Kerr’s previous performances in the Millrose Games and New York races, where he achieved second and notable positions in 2022, 2018, and 2019 respectively, speak volumes about his capabilities.
The current world indoor two-mile record, set by Britain’s Mo Farah in 2015 in Birmingham, stands at 8:03.40. Kerr is anticipating a thrilling competition, noting, “There’s going to be an exciting lineup, and the pace is set for a potential two-mile world record. I’m currently in fantastic shape.”

Among the athletes already confirmed for next year’s Tour are world gold medallists Noah Lyles, Jake Wightman, and Gabby Thomas. They will join Kerr in showcasing their exceptional talents at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on February 4, adding to the anticipation and buzz surrounding these premier athletic competitions.
