Villanova University’s Liam Murphy shattered the NCAA 1500-meter record at the Raleigh Relays, clocking an impressive 3:33.02. This performance eclipsed the previous record of 3:33.74, set by Alabama’s Eliud Kipsang in 2022.

Murphy’s teammate, Marco Langon, also delivered a remarkable performance, finishing second with a time of 3:33.38, now the second-fastest in NCAA history. The duo’s times surpassed the previous NCAA record, underscoring Villanova’s dominance in middle-distance running.

University of Virginia’s Gary Martin, who secured third place with a time of 3:33.71, also under the previous record.

Murphy’s record-setting run adds to his growing list of accolades. Since December, he has set school records in the 3000 meters (7:35.47) and the 5000 meters (13:10.42), in addition to anchoring record-setting relay teams.
