Kenyan Recho Kosgei collapsed with a near-three-minute lead and about a half-mile to go in the Warsaw marathon on Sunday.
Ethiopia’s Bekelu Beji ran past the collapsed Kosgei and went on to win the women’s race in 2:35:08.
Kosgei did not finish and was eventually treated by medical staff.
Last reports have stated that Kosgei is now recovered and eager to race again.
The race organisers have come under scrutiny for not helping Kosgei earlier on.
