The main event will undoubtedly be the highly anticipated men’s 100m race, featuring the clash between Italian Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs and reigning world champion Fred Kerley. Their showdown was postponed in Rabat due to Jacobs’ back injury, making their face-off in Florence an eagerly awaited moment. Joining them on the starting blocks will be American sprint sensations Erriyon Knighton and Grant Holloway, the reigning world champion in the 110m hurdles.

The women’s 100m dash is set to deliver its own dose of excitement, as British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou, and American speedsters Aleia Hobbs and Gabby Thomas unleash their lightning-fast prowess.

The women’s 400m hurdles will witness world silver medallist Femke Bol aiming to continue her stellar performances, while Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, the reigning world and Olympic champion, takes the lead in the women’s 1500m, setting her sights on Genzebe Dibaba’s world record.

The event will also see the return of Olympic medallists Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda and Malaika Mihambo from Germany. Cheptegei, the record holder in the 10,000m, seeks a third consecutive world title in Budapest later this year. His rivals include Selemon Barega from Ethiopia and Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir, who delivered an impressive 12:46.33 last season. Mihambo, the reigning Olympic and world champion in long jump, will face stiff competition from Nigerian Ese Brume, American finalist Tara Davis, and other elite jumpers.

The lineup is further amplified by the presence of Grant Holloway, determined to reclaim his dominance in the men’s 110m hurdles, and Christian Taylor, the illustrious double world and Olympic champion in triple jump.
