For the first time in over 20 years, the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON on October 9 will take place with an international elite field. The start list includes a World champion from 2015, Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia. Her compatriot Mengistu Zelalem is currently the fastest man in the field with a best of 2:08:48. The GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON, which starts in the Olympic Stadium before making its way through the inner city and finishing in the imposing setting of the Olympic arena, is an Elite Label Road Race, a distinction awarded by World Athletics, the international governing body of world athletics. The organisers expect a total of 20,000 participants for the 36th edition of this historic race with around 5,000 running the marathon.

The American record holder Keira d’Amato and Kenya’s Nancy Jelagat Meto lead a high quality women’s field for the 48th edition of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON on Sunday, September 25. Keira d’Amato improved the US record to 2:19:12 which also gives her the accolade of the fastest in the women’s field, announced by the organisers today. Eight women will be on the start line with personal bests of under 2:21.

Ryan Gregson has continued his strong late year form, winning the Sydney Harbour 10km last weekend clocking 29:31, to defeat local hero Ben St Lawrence by 8 seconds. Gregson just last month won his first Noosa Bolt title. He is racking up the wins on the road before the track season gets underway.  Gregson is no doubt building a tremendous base of strength, which will put him in good stead for the grueling and ultra-competitive 1500m and 5000m races that await him.
