Nina Kennedy, Australia’s pole vaulting sensation and 2024 Olympic gold medalist, recently shared a funny story about a passenger confusing her profession during a flight. Kennedy, who clinched the gold medal in Paris by clearing 4.90m on her first attempt, recounted the moment on the Mental As Anyone podcast with Jonathan Moran.
Manangoi has been provisionally suspended in a case of whereabouts failures.  A whereabouts violation constitutes of any combination of three missed tests or filing failures in a 12-month period, according to the World Athletics anti-doping rules.  Athletes must provide doping officials with their whereabouts, or locations to be available for out-of-competition testing. Three missed tests in a 12-month span can lead to a suspension, even if an athlete has never tested positive.

The world's best 1500m runner and the 2019 1500m world champ, Timothy Cheruiyot, has been added to the Kenyan Olympic team to race the 1500m, in a last second switch.  Cheruiyot replaces teenager Kamar Etiang, who finished second at the Kenyan trials. Etiang has recently come into some grief by failing to comply with the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) doping measures requiring three out-of-competition tests in the last 10 months, Kenyan athletics officials said.
Victoria Ohuruogu, a British sprinter, recently exhaled a sigh of relief when a 16-month anti-doping investigation ended without incident. The inquiry was started by UK Anti-Doping (UKad) in December 2022 in response to a picture that showed Ohuruogu with her Italian sprinter boyfriend, Antonio Infantino, who is presently in the midst of a three-year doping ban.
