Multiple NSW and Australian junior champion, Angus Beer, has announced his commitment to the University of Missouri. The talented middle distance runner from Sydney's prestigious Trinity College announced his intentions via instagram stating:
Nike has shut down the Nike Oregon Project distance group on Thursday, October 10 2019. The Project was establihsed by Nike in 2001 to support long and middle distance running in America. Nike's co-founder, Phil Knight, always took a keen interest in the Project and was instrumental in its ongoing funding.
"I am shocked to receive the news of today’s ruling, especially during this time in which I am fully preparing for my next race in the world championships in Doha. I like to state that this investigation is focused on the period before I joined the Oregon Project and therefore has no relation to me.

Australia's leading middle distance runner Stewart McSweyn has posted another impressive run at the London Diamond League clocking  13:05.48 for 4th. Fellow Aussie Patrick Tiernan finished in 8th with 13:12.68 and 4-time NCAA champion Morgan McDonald finished in 9th with 13:18.91. Both Tiernan and McDonald posted A qualifying times for the Doha World Championships in a few months time.   Australia had three other starters in the race; Brett Robinson finished 13th in 13:39, Sam McEntee 16th in 13:55 and the Australian champion, Jordan Gusman, DNF'd.
Griffith University (QLD) Matt Denny has thrown an in stadium personal best of 65.27m in the men’s discus at the World University Games in Naples, Italy.
Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands broke the 23-year-old women’s mile world record on Friday clocking 4:12.33 seconds, beating the 4:12.56 set by Russia’s Svetlana Masterkova in 1996.
