The 2000m race, or Maurie Plant Memorial Race, is the first ever high profile virtual track event. #TeamCheruiyot has 2017 world 1,500m champion Elijah Manang’oi, Africa Under-18 1,500m champion Vincent Keter and Edwin Melly.

Athletics Australia wishes to advise that we, along with our State Member Associations have decided and agree to the postponement of all competitions and events until May 1 2020 at the earliest. This includes local and state cross-country, track and field and road events.
Peter Bol and Joseph Deng are back to their 2018 best after stellar runs in the men’s 800m at the 2020 Sydney Track Classic. Peter Bol won the race in 1:45.85 with Joseph just behind him in second with 1:45.89. After the race, Bol declared him and Joseph were set for bigger things in the Olympic year.
Running for Wake Forest, the talented and gritty Aussie, Zach Facioni, has broken the school indoor 3000m record, clocking 7:55.92 to take out the win at the Iowa State Classic. It is just one of a string of awesome performances that Facioni has run recently, cementing himself as a serious player on the NCAA scene, and justifying his move from Sydney to the American collegiate system.
Two Olympic qualifiers from Eleanor Patterson and Nicola McDermott in the women’s high jump have lead the charge at the 2020 Canberra Track Classic. Although both Patterson and McDermott had already jumped the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifying height (1.96m), McDermott in June 2019 in Ostrava and Patterson in January 2020 in Canberra, they both again cleared 1.96m at the meet.
Donavan Brazier, the reigning world champion over 800m, lowered the U.S. indoor 800m record again at the Millrose Games a few days ago, and now he has his sights set on the GOAT - David Rudisha, and the Tokyo Olympics.

After a prolonged wait, World Athletics won’t be banning Nike's controversial carbon-infused Vaporfly Next% road racing shoes.  Instead, the governing body will look to temporarily tighten regulations regarding footwear in the lead up to Tokyo 2020.
March’s World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China have been postponed to 2021, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the host nation. World Athletics made the announcement about the biennial championships on Wednesday, citing safety concerns.
