The anticipation mounts as the British cross-country running squad prepares to storm the European Championships in Brussels on December 10. Megan Keith, Hugo Milner, and Innes FitzGerald headline a formidable team set to vie for top honors on the challenging European terrain.
Canberra, Australia; 1 March 2024: The first Australian athletes for the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships have been named, with Victorian Haftu Strintzos and Canberran local Paige Campbell set to lead the charge in Serbia after storming to victory at Stromlo Forest to confirm their selection alongside distance veterans Liam Adams and Melissa Duncan.
Inaugurating the London International Cross Country event at Parliament Hill was more than just a spectacle. The organizers, led by Eamonn Martin, aimed to fill the void left by the dearly missed Great Edinburgh XC. Their vision goes beyond, harboring ambitions to host the European Championships at this iconic venue.
Every cross-country race carves its unique story. The Liverpool Cross Challenge on Saturday (Nov 25) etched its mark not only through incredible athletic performances but also with an unexpected guest of honor – Carl Lewis, the revered nine-time Olympic champion.

Just 35 days remains before Australia’s first World Athletics Series event in 27 years begins in Bathurst with the World Athletics Cross Country Championships, but before then, the country’s top distance stars will battle it out for selection at the Australian Trials this Sunday at Canberra’s Stromlo Forest.

Kelly, 39, can see these days why he didn’t achieve his athletic potential and, for the past six years, he’s done everything to ensure others don’t make the same mistake, guiding many of Ireland’s best like Andrew Coscoran, Michelle Finn, Brian Fay, Hiko Tonosa, Sean Tobin and Mark English.
In a spectacular showcase of talent, world cross-country champions Beatrice Chebet and Jacob Kiplimo dominated the Cross Internacional de Atapuerca, the second Gold standard meeting in the World Athletics Cross Country Tour this season, despite battling challenging weather conditions with gusts of wind reaching up to 45kph and persistent rain.
The cream of Australia’s distance running crop are primed to take on the rugged Bathurst terrain next month, with Athletics Australia finalising its 28-strong team for the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 2023, taking place from February 17-19.
Since March when the government ordered closure of athletics camps to minimise the spread of Covid-19, the once busy stadium has become a pale shadow of its former self.
