Brisbane, Australia; March 23, 2023 -  All roads lead to Brisbane for the business end of the 2023 Chemist Warehouse Summer Series, with Saturday’s Brisbane Track Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Level Meet, attracting stellar fields less than a week before the 100th edition of the Australian Track and Field Championships.
New Zealand long-distance runner Zane Robertson has been banned from competing for eight years after testing positive for a prohibited substance and tampering with the doping control process, according to the Sports Tribunal. Robertson, who won bronze for New Zealand at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and participated in the last two Olympics, was found to have taken Erythropoietin (EPO), a banned substance, and tampered with the doping control process.
Faith Kipyegon, a two-time world and Olympic 1500m champion hailing from Kenya, is getting ready for her first major competition of the year. She'll be heading back to the Wanda Diamond League meet in Doha on May 5th, where she's hoping to start her season on a strong note.
Molly Huddle, the three-time winner of the United Airlines NYC Half, is making a comeback to the race after a six-year hiatus. The 38-year-old athlete considers the event to be a significant turning point in her career, having triumphed in the race three times since her debut in 2014, defeating some of the world's top runners.
Donavan Brazier, the American middle-distance running sensation, has expressed his eagerness to compete in 2023, following his second surgery in February. Brazier had a phenomenal season in 2019, setting an American record for the 800 meters and a world-best time for the 600 meters, and ending the year by winning the world title in the 800 meters in record-breaking fashion.
American Olympic champion Dick Fosbury, who revolutionized the high jump with a technique known as the Fosbury Flop, has passed away at the age of 76. Ray Schulte, his former agent, announced the news on Monday via Instagram. According to Schulte, Fosbury passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short battle with lymphoma recurrence.
In the USA, 13 Australians qualified for the renowned NCAA Indoor Championships, which has long served as a stepping stone for burgeoning athletes as they rise up to senior ranks of Australian competition.

Rīga, Latvia - Sebastian Coe, a renowned Olympic champion, ran a mile from the Latvian National Art Museum to the Freedom Monument on March 9th as part of a promotional drive for the World Road Running Championships scheduled to take place in Rīga later this year. Coe expressed his excitement about the event, stating that Rīga would make history in world athletics by hosting the World Road Running Championships. He declared that the city would become the road running capital of the world and encouraged everyone to participate in the championships. Unlike other tournaments that are exclusively reserved for elite athletes, Coe emphasized that the event is open to all participants.
