Australia's fastest ever 800m runner, Peter Bol, has finished second at the Doha Diamond League Friday night. Bol clocked 1:49.35 in a tactical affair, in quite windy conditions. Bol beat home some huge names for his first ever Diamond League podium finish.
In a historic decision, Beijing, China, has been officially selected as the host city for the prestigious 2027 World Athletics Championships by the World Athletics Council. This significant announcement was made during the 234th World Athletics Council Meeting in Glasgow, conducted ahead of the World Athletics Indoor Championships scheduled from March 1 to 3.

Two Olympic qualifiers from Eleanor Patterson and Nicola McDermott in the women’s high jump have lead the charge at the 2020 Canberra Track Classic. Although both Patterson and McDermott had already jumped the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifying height (1.96m), McDermott in June 2019 in Ostrava and Patterson in January 2020 in Canberra, they both again cleared 1.96m at the meet.
Giles has sent a message to his Olympic competitors, that he is in form, and ready to challenge for a medal at the fast-approaching Tokyo Games.  Giles has smashed an in-form Clayton Murphy, who is red hot after winning the U.S. Track and Field Olympic trials. Many Americans have been assuming Murphy would move into favourite consideration for Tokyo.  But he finished 3rd in Hungry, outclassed by two Olympic threats from the UK, Elliot Giles, and Jamie Webb.

Confirmed by Athletics Australia and UniSport Australia today, the Uniroos Athletics Team will consist of 11 past Australian representatives including two Commonwealth Games representatives, one World Athletics Championships representative and three athletes returning to the World University Games for the second time.
